Nearing the End

During this campaign I have avoided political jargon and broad generalities.  I have discussed the issues I believe are important and the specific actions that should be taken to address them.  My primary issues are:

  • Protecting private property rights, especially stopping the encroachment of commercial uses into established residential neighborhoods.

  • Improving transparency so residents and business owners are better informed of the City’s activities and spending.

  • Eliminating wasteful spending practices.

  • Reviewing the taxation and fee structures.

Details can be found at the My Initiatives section of my website.

Our city government has approximately 375 full-time employees and annual expenditures in excess of $120 million.  It serves about 32,000 residents and hundreds of businesses.  I strongly urge you to research all the candidates, including me, before you mark your ballot.  You may know one or more of the candidates from your neighborhood, church, or somewhere else and feel he or she is a good person.  Ask yourself, “Am I confident that person is qualified to play a substantial role in managing our city government?”

I worked for city and county governments for 29 years, mostly in land use planning, but also in economic development.  I served as a department director for three cities, including Elizabethtown.  I have prepared and administered budgets, managed water and sewer construction projects, written ordinances, coordinated bond sales, and supervised and disciplined personnel.  I know the day-to-day operations of local government from the inside.  I believe I am better qualified to serve on City Council than any other candidate.

I would be honored to be YOUR voice on the City Council.  You can find my name at position 6 on the ballot.
